About Us
     The National Association of Power Engineers (N.A.P.E.)is the oldest engineering association in the United States, organized in 1882.  Active for 125 years and the longest standing engineering association the the country, N.A.P.E. is dedicated to the purpose of providing advancement through educational opportunities to its members.  Through educational courses, books, newsletters, a bi-monthly magazine, chapter meetings and conventions, N.A.P.E. helps bring new information and technology to power engineers across the nation to ensure safe and
responsible engineering practices.
     Phoenix Chapter NY 24 is the oldest NAPE chapter in the N.Y., N.J. region. For many years Chapter 24 limited its membership to Chief Engineers only.  Today membership is offered occupations that include:
Power Electrical Engineer, Stationary Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Power Engineer, Facilities Plant Engineer, Refrigeration Plant Engineer, Diesel Plant Engineer, Process Plant Engineer, Chief Engineer, Engineering Student, Boiler and Machinery Inspector, Plant Water Treatment Specialist, Facilities Manager, Plant Manager, Building Superintendent, Combusti9on/Gas Turbine Operator, Fireman, Plant Tender and Oiler, HVAC Technician, School Custodian.
     Chapter 24 was chartered in 1890, the same year that Nikola Tesla developed alternative current generators enabling electricity to be transmitted longer distances. 
At the same time that Andrew Riker became the first American to build an electric vehicle (a battery powered tricycle).

We meet the first Wednesday of the month at the Plattduetsche Restaurant in Franklin Square.  For directions click on chapter meetings.
Our Chapter meetings offer education, networking and occasional field trips.
